What Is Veterinary Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is the use of light of a specific wavelength to heal wounds, reduce pain, decrease inflammation and improve circulation, by enhancing and accelerating the body’s own healing abilities. Its efficacy has been scientifically proven.

The same technology has been used in human rehabilitation therapy for years and is now gaining popularity in veterinary medicine as a drug-free treatment option for pets.

When laser therapy is used in conjunction with traditional treatment options, owners and pets can enjoy faster recovery times for many conditions.

Electrotherapy for Dogs

Electrical muscle stimulation (TENS) is one of the most commonly used techniques in human physiotherapy, however, it has also become extremely popular in the veterinary world.

TENS electrotherapy is used on dogs and is effective when treating musculoskeletal problems. Electrical muscle stimulation involves applying an electric current to the dog’s muscles in order to stimulate the muscle and provoke muscle contractions to increase strength and muscle mass.

It is used in rehabilitation, most commonly after orthopedic surgery to help regain function and to treat or prevent muscle atrophy in the recovery period.
